Issues NHUDG is Following

The opportunity to achieve something inspiring, regenerative and economically beneficial to the North Coast and the World has led the community conversation about the future of these beautiful headlands. This is a community with many terrific ideas. NHUDG has focused on restoration, localization, sustainable community design and renewable energy.

Pittsburgh is home to what is arguably one of the greenest buildings in the country: the Center for Sustainable Landscapes. This exciting project has risen from a trashed Brown Field in Pittsburgh Penn.

Restoration & Environmental Health

Environmental restoration, organic agriculture, and the restoration of healthy forests is the best and fastest way to sequester carbon. Photosynthesis is our most powerful tool to suck carbon out of our atmosphere.

The Built Environment - Nurturing This Place

Buildings must enrich and enliven our local environment. Net-Zero water and energy will be the only way to build into a healthy environment.
The materials and the methods are important.

Localization & A Resilient Local Economy

Fort Bragg has edible gardens at every school in town. Our Senior Center's beautiful garden serves up fresh produce all week long. Our year round Farmers Market, the Mendocino Coast Farmers Guild and many other local farms provide locally grown healthy food.

Measuring climate change
Man made changes to the climate threaten humanity’s security. Gross greenhouse gas emissions come from numerous sources. The resulting climate chaos has begun to modify our planet in ways that are not fully understood, leading to natural emissions that add to the complexity of the challenge. This problem will only be solved locally, with appropriate action to reduce our emissions and capture carbon. One thing we can do here in Fort Bragg, to sequester carbon, is restore the creeks and soils of the Noyo Headlands.
