Remediate, Restore, Rebuild, Reinhabit

Since its inception in 2005, the Noyo Headlands Unified Design group has advocated for a planful and creative transformation of the Noyo Headlands on the Mendocino Coast in a manner that nurtures the environmental health of our planet and strengthens the social and economic fabric of our community, demonstrating how we can create a thriving future for all. Development of the northern Mendocino Coast was based on an extraordinarily rich extraction economy. Lumber and fish were plentiful and then they weren't. Both industries are still viable, but now they need to be carefully nurtured. Is there a way for the Coastal communities to survive and thrive?

Honor the past. Celebrate the future.

Sound ecologically beneficial technology can inform an economic development strategy. Regional and local transportation linkages that can created with the site. Green building design can permeate the master plan of the site. We can agree that  qualities such as health and happiness for a community and restoration of a planet as well as profit have value. We can mourn the loss of the boom economy of a past era or we can embrace a new economy for the future.
